One More Poem Is Like One More Beer

(stayed up too late at the cafe) lol

One more poem is like one more beer

Never enough to satisfy this writer, got to have just one more

Every now & then when the urge to write strikes

 

My paper fills up with words as my pen overflows with ink

One more poem is like one more beer

Remnants of thoughts here & there

Escape me not as I become inspired like a drunk on a binge

 

Poetry from my heart & soul, emerges as a work of art, painstakingly so

Often intoxicated from fighting sleep, as I look at the clock & it's 5am

Excuses, I make so many, my daughter fears I'll become manic, she panics

Maybe I will, maybe I won't, maybe I already am, manic as hell, why not?

 

I love to write poetry, it is the essence of me, a part of who I am

Shakespeare must have lost a lot of sleep, and Edgar Allen Poe

 

Likewise, I imagine writing a tapestry of poetry for all the world to read

I should be so be so blessed, to have a published collection of poems

Keep telling myself that, anyway. Volumes of poetry, poetry & more poetry

Ever wonder what inspires one to write? I wonder all the time...

Even now as I fill this blank page, wondering about my next masterpiece

 

My pen has run dry so I switch over to computer keys

One more poem is like one more beer

Remnants of thoughts here & there

Escape me not as I become inspired like a drunk on a binge

 

By the way, beer & poetry don't always go hand in hand

Every now & then when the urge to write strikes me, and it does

Every once in a while, I take a sip or two myself

Remembering this, please don't drink & drive
