The World Is A Treacherous PlaceA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaThe world is a treacherous place Hunger & starvation in many a nation & the children they suffer Empty stomachs, naked bodies & protruding bellies with sunken eyes
World missionaries and others try to help out Only to find there isn't enough food & water, clothing or medicine Roaming the streets of a city bombarded by war, plagued by disaster Living with pestilence & disease, devastation as far as the eyes can see Depression, sadness, death & despair, the world is a treacherous place
I am my brothers keeper, these words ring out of the confines of my mind So how can I contribute to this worthy cause as I ponder this question
A donation, a monetary offering, pehaps an adoption of a child forsaken
These are some of the things I can do Reach out and touch the hand of someone less fortunate than I Embracing them from a far distant land such as this, sweet America Amidst chaos and confusion, we must strive to find a solution Chasing dead horses will get us no where fast Helicopters bearing food and first aid as military rescue units help out Round bellied children gather, scrambling for food on the ground Opression has stolen hopes & dreams before they were ever born Under such horrid conditions, the world is a treacherous place Spoils of war torn towns, bring a frown to my face, sorrow to my eyes
Poverty abounds, in a wretched enviornment such as this Little children suffer lack of love & affection & bare necessities of life Adults lack education and suffer, too Can we change the ways of our world? I wonder... Entertaining the notion that we can help, one child at a time © 2010 Deborah Leah Krempa |
