Scared Of The Streets

Scared Of The Streets

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

S cared of the streets

C an only imagine for now what it may be like

A lone and out in the cold with no place to call home

R oaming the streets for a bite to eat and a place to rest

E nduring the winter month's ahead

D reading the future and what it may bring forth

O ut of the blue

F rom here on out

T his is really going to happen soon

H omeless and scared of the streets

E ven now as I speak I shutter to think about all of this

S oon we will lose our comfort zone as we lose our home

T he bills will no longer be a worry as the weatherman calls for snow flurries

R ivers of tears we will surely cry as we lose everything we own

E ven our family photos we cannot keep and there is no room at the inn

E ventually we will get back on our feet, I just hope and pray for that day

T o come

S oon...

Scary to know this can and does happen to people every single day. This is a well crafted Acrostic!! Well done!

An uncomplicated poem but deeply moving and provocative. Personally, I did not find it depressing at all . . . . have been there and done that, as the expression goes; but I came out ahead eventually, just as the end of this poem promises. A broken bone mends stronger then the original.

This is a heat warming piece. It's sad and made me feel bad, but there that innocent optimism at the end.
And they say empathy is dead...Im inspired. We need to see things like this instead of all the negative news
everyday. Just what the doctor ordered. Makes me feel like I can change things. Inspiration such as this is
what all writers strive for. Great job!
