Dear John

Dear John

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

She wore the darkest shade

Of scarlet red lipstick

As she she wrote him a dear john letter

Sealed the envelope with a kiss

By the time he opened it

He surely would break down in tears

Remembering all the broken promises he made

Guess he never thought she'd really leave

Dear debileah,

Full of drama and emotion as only can true life experience can paint. And yes, I truly believe that "He surely would break down in tears". But I do not believe that the cause would be "Remembering all the broken promises he made". It is much more likely that a selfish sense of loss that will bring those tears. And no, he never saw it coming. I think he feared it, but he didn't think it would happen. When you live with a giving person, the last thing you expect is for them to stop giving and finally saying enough is enough.

Wonderful write.

Best regards,

Rick
