It Is Scary Out There

It Is Scary Out There

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

(please don't drink and drive)

"

I t is so scary out there

T oo many drunks on the road

I  lost my son to a drunk driver not so very long ago

S cary as hell it really is, out there on the road

S he took her keys and left for the evening

C an't reason with her tonight

A  lot of stress, too much for one soul to bear

R eally hope she will be okay tonight

Y ou know I don't know what I would do if I were to lose another child

O ut there on the road, with a glass of wine in her hand

U nlikely she will listen to me when I tell her how worried I am

T onight I pray she will be okay

T hey say I worry too much and you can't just stop living, you have to go on

H e wouldn't want us to fret but I'll bet you ten to one, he would have

E nded up taking her keys away from her tonight

R obert was that kind of a man, very precautious

E veryone says that I worry too much, I just hope and pray she'll be all right

I didn't even notice that the first letters spell out the title, but it's great that they do and it works so well. Very powerful and sad, this is a simple piece with a simple message which comes across strong. I'm so sorry for your loss - this poem is beautiful. Thank you kindly for your review of my work.

A plain message, delivered in a straightforward manner. Not poetry, but hard-hitting nevertheless.

Dear debileah,

A fine poem. Very heartfelt and expressive of emotions I think everyone must have regarding the safety of their children.

Very best regards,

Rick

My heart got heavy reading these words for they have brought many memories. My Dad used to say to me,"I sure love you but I hate your ways"! Today, I know what he meant. As human beings we have many choices and so little time. I really liked your words and I hope you can find peace within your being to enjoy Creation as we were intended. Light and Life!
