Deadly Keys

Deadly Keys

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

D eadly keys he held in his hands

E veryone knew he had too much to drink

A mad man took to the road on a clear April night

D runk on alcohol and high on cocaine

L eft of center, he crossed into the other lane causing a head on collision

Y ou wonder what went through his mind as he placed those deadly

K eys into the ignition and turned his truck into a lethal weapon

E ach year he spends his time in prison I hope he remembers his victims

Y et he was probably too drunk and stoned to hear their final

S creams as he stole their lives and shattered their hopes and dreams

So true. Way this poem is written re-enforces the message. Nicely done for a topic we hear about too often. Thank you for sharing.
