With This Ring I Thee WedA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaW ords I whispered T he day we wed H esitated for a moment and then I said I do
T hen he turned and spoke the same vows to me H alf heartedly as the street preacher pronounced us husband and wife I was in the mother's way S ix month's along to be exact
R ings on our fingers had lost their shine I sure wish we had taken our time in getting to know each other better N ot jumped into marriage with our heads under water, as they say G uess we were just too naive and thought we were in love
I had three other children and had recently been divorced
T imes were rough for us as a family H e made it even harder with his drinking and his drugging E ventually he took to hitting me, it started with a slap in my face E yes swollen black and blue, busted lips and broken promises
W e lasted thirteen years until I finally decided it was over for good E nded in disaster as he beat me worse than the times he did before D amn near died in his not so loving arms © 2009 Deborah Leah KrempaReviews
