Two Thirty In The Morning Blues

Two Thirty In The Morning Blues

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

T wo thirty in the morning

W onder where you are tonight?

O ut on the town and painting it red

T wo thirty in the morning

H ave your children been fed? Tucked snuggly into their bed?

I  wonder do you think about them when you are wandering the streets?

R ead these words and let them sink in

T wo thirty in the morning and the bars are all closed

Y ou need to sober up and find your way home

I  once was foolish like you

N o one could tell me what to do

T he alcohol I consumed

H ad me in it's clutches

E ntertaining strangers in divers places

M arijuana

O ffered me an escape from reality as I

R an away from my problems and my responsibilities

N o one could tell me what to do

I  was out there doing my own thing and crying in my beer

N ot giving a damn about anybody but myself, but I reached out for help

G ot down on my knees and I prayed and went into rehab

B alled my eyes out when I realized how selfish my addiction had become

L ied to myself and to everyone I loved, made a million excuses

U nfortunately, we hurt the ones we love the most and we hurt ourselves

E specially when there are children involved

S o if it's two thirty in the morning, please take heed to this warning

I enjoyed this very much, thanks for recommending it to me. It is still quite unusual for me to read this kind of poems, but so it seems also that you're very good writing them. I couldn't really find something which could make me say this is outstanding, more than art, I feel this as a message, or as a "warning" as you said. Overall I liked this a lot because it reflects true thought of the heart, expressed in a coherent and clear way as a poem. I just hope that, to whoever this poem was dedicated, this person has already mend his/her ways of living. Good writing.
