Where Is Justice?

Where Is Justice?

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

My son's life was taken

Not so long ago

By a drunk driver

The pain is still fresh

As are the memories

Of the funerals

Of two wonderful people

Who are dearly missed

By family and friends

The man who killed them

Is in prison doing time

A mere ten years for his crime

A slap on the wrist for him

A slap in the face for us

Where is justice?

By the time this offender gets out

He will be the same age

As my son would have been

A mere thirty-five years old

With a life still ahead of him

I wonder will he have learned

That drinking and driving don't mix

Or will he get out there on the road

Perhaps it will happen again

Hopefully not I pray

But I wonder anyway

It scares me to think about it

Does it scare you?

It scares the hell out of me

i am sure that driver knew well that driving and drinking dont go together ..
they just dont care ,human lives dont count much these day ..
i dont think there is a law that can prevent such tragedies ..
please dear ,just try to forget ,and go on with your life..
i always told you thats life ..life is never fair..
how you make me sad when all the time you talk about him
please just let go..again its life ,thats her ways
sad write..

No amount of jail time would be satisfying for such a loss... then again, who knows if any punishment would really be satisfying. It would be nice some day if every car had a built in breathalizer. The car wouldn't start until you've blown in it and it reads under the legal limit. What a concept..

I agree with you the law is wrong too many people are in proson for the wrong reasons like immigration cheats or petty criminals this driver was responsible for the taking of a life which saddens me but the powers of the court don't permit a significantly long custodial sentence, it's like people can go use a car and deliberately mow down a person in their killing machine and know they will only get 5 years with good behaviour it sucks.
I would want revenge if that person was getting off lightly but one can't do that after all this is the pathetic correction society or politically correct another thing that maked me puke all those people walking around like football stewards what's that all about?
Now i can't tell the difference between a builder and a medic if i was walking passed them in the street even delivery guys are complient too much of a nanny state for me and too many do gooders which have got us in to this shambolic mess
BRING BACK HANGING AND MAKE ROOM IN THE PRISONS SCRAP PAROLE AND GOOD BEHAVIOUR KOP OUT DEALS.
THE SOCIETY PUNISHES THE GOOD WHILST THE VICTIM CAN GO AND WEEP
FAITH IS DEAD MATERIALISM AND REALITY TV ARE KING WELCOME TO THE 21ST CENTURY

Some people never learn drinking and driving DON"T mix.
So sorry for your loss. Maybe your writing will finely get
it through peoples head???

Thanks for sharing.
