Ghetto

Ghetto

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

Complete chaos

Spring is in the air

The gangs are out tonight

You can hear the sirens

Of the cop cars in the distance

The sound of a gun being shot

Kids running in every direction

Cutting through my yard

Jumping my fence

Complete chaos

I thought the shape was an unopened flower that suggested hope for relocation from the getto of living or renewal from the getto of the mind. Thanks for sharing, Barb

That is not a welcome sound of spring! Where I grew up, I also remember the sounds of the sirens. You would wait to hear how close they would be coming in your direction. Then I would stop and think how many of my brothers or sisters were home and would only relax when we were all accounted for!

I like the way the poem looks like a black balloon ready to take right off.

Good work

Kath
