Alone In The Dark

 

Sometimes I find myself afraid

To be alone in the dark of the night

So I fall asleep with the lights on

With the covers pulled up over my head

Toss and turn as dreams turn to nightmares

A lone in the dark

L onliness fills my nights

O ften my thoughts race

N ot a soul in sight

E ndless is my plight

 

I  am afraid of my own shadow

N ot to mention the ones on the walls

 

T he darkness beckons me with thoughts of

H eaven and hell

E ternal bliss or everlasting sorrows

 

D ancing with thoughts of death at my door

A fraid of my own demise

R eaching out into the sea of the unknown

K eeping one eye open and one eye closed

This was a cool little poem. I wrote one called Footsteps along these same lines, things that go BUMP! in the night, lol But my guy keeps hearing footsteps at night, outside his window, on the roof of his house, following him down the street etc. And he's SCARED! Kinda' like this person sleeping with one eye open. I see you are lacking inspiration, so go out and enjoy some fresh air and walk your dog or whatever..but take a note pad and a pen with you. Inspiration strikes like lightning in the strangest places. :o) GOOD LUCK!
