Hey Bartender

Hey Bartender

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

(please don't drink and drive)

"

hey bartender

come on down here

pour me a beer

so I can cry a tear or two

you know I'm just a pretender

hiding behind this glass

the one I hold in my shaking hand

hey bartender

thank you kindly

I knew you'd understand

hey bartender

by the way

the next round is on me

It's happy hour

I'm as blue as I can be

hey bartender

do you see that guy over there

dancing with that new gal

do you remember

when he use to dance with me

hey bartender

come on down here

pour me a beer

call me a taxi

I'm outta here

I have a piece I wrote with the same title.
I like this i can feel the emotion behind it.

This reminds me of the song, "Tears in my Beer". To think of how many men or women sit in a place such as this, with emotions as this, and just pine away, as they wait for a new love, having to watch a lost love with someone else.
Good ending!
