She's A SurvivorA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaWhen she puts on her make-up
She takes off about ten years
She can easily pass for forty-five
When she smiles her eyes light up
But when she frowns they fade
To a dimmer shade of gray
She has streaks of silver in her hair
You can see the worry in her face
As she looks into the mirror on the wall
She feels so insecure
Life has done this to her
She fights within herself
To find her inner strength
For the courage and the will to go on
To face another day
Come what may
In her lifetime she's been
Beaten, battered and abused
But she's a survivor
She is me
