Dear Mama

Dear Mama

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

dear mama

do you remember

the way I use to dance

around the house

sing to my hearts content

dear mama

do you remember

all of the questions I use to ask

the times I'd call you on the telephone

for all those recipes

dear mama

you always said

deb, I wish you could carry a tune

deb, I wish I had all the answers for you

deb, you need all of the ingredients

to cook that pot of stew

dear mama

Its wonderful to have happy memories of the people we love. Too often as Shakespeare said," the good that a man does is oft interned with his bones." The horrors of life are burned into our mind's eye. But if given a chance there is the other side of the coin, having a longing for 'the good old days'. This poem is a wonderful tribute to your Mom and shows the tenderness you have for her in your heart. I like it very much.
