Old Socks and Broken Records

Old Socks and Broken Records

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

(guess you can tell i've got writer's block)

"

I'm tired like an old pair of socks

Been through the washing machine

Too many times

Now they are full of holes

No one darns socks

anymore

Nowadays they just throw them away

I sound like a broken record

Keep on repeating myself

Too many times

Broken records can't help but skip

So into the trash-can they go

Old socks that use to keep my feet warm

Now tattered and torn and discarded

Old records that played sweet melodies

Now replaced by Cd's

Woe is me

For someone suffering writers block you have done a great job here.
First - the title is fantastic! It is a real 'gotta read this' and very catchy.

Next - the sadness is apparent - and the loss also - not only of the words you seek but also the past and the memories that old socks and broken records bring to you.

The past is the past and all that once was is now replaced, yet nothing can replace the memories no matter how many 'new' things appear in life.

I do like this one and absolutely adore the title.

Thank you for making me smile.

Woe is me also. This expressed the melancholy that you must feel. I love this poem. I've never thought of it this way before. Thank you for this! :)
