Austin

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

(please don't drink and drive) (have a safe holiday)

"

Austin

There's a star shining

Over Austin tonight

My son moved to Austin

He made it his home

Times got rough

He ran out of work

Couldn't afford to pay the bills

So headed back up north

To the place where he was born

Only to die

Only God knows why

Bad things happen to good people

A drunk driver

Took his life away

Bobby wanted to be

A Science Teacher

He wanted to teach children

So they could reach out and touch the stars

I don't know why he had to die

He had so much more to give to the world

Bobby was a kind and generous soul

Look!

There's a star shining

Over Austin tonight

'Bad things happen to good people' is a sad line indeed. You keep the star shining. And the anti-drink-drive message can never, never, never be pressed strongly enough. I hope that others will listen to people like yourself who, sadly, speak with first-hand experience of what can happen. Also with kids of my own...

This is a wonderful tribute to your son. Sometimes we just do not know why things happens to us or our dear ones. I hope the one who caused the accident reads your poem one day or anyone else that needs a good wake up call for that matter.

Your pen is something that i can't explain...
Your love is something that I can only feel!
Your ability to express your emotion is something that I yearn for...
The success in your craft is something that i admire....
Your work brings me joy... even in the mist of sadness...

I know it's a difficult time with the holidays here, I'm sure his star is shining bright.
