Bobby

Bobby

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

(for a contest-100 words)

"

Azure blue eyes

Bright as the sky

On a warm summer's day

My son grew to be quite tall

Extremely handsome

Quiet young man even-tempered

Sensitive shy kind of guy

Born in July

Very well-mannered

Always polite

Loved reading, writing, story-telling

Liked role-playing spending time among his gaming friends

Believed that truth was most important character one can posess

Wrote and drew comic strips

Science fiction fantasy tales

Posessed much wisdom, knowlege

Enjoyed running

Fishing, turtle trapping with Dad

Graduated highschool

Joined Marine Corps, age seventeen

Stationed Japan for four years

Honorable Humanitarian Discharge

Needed at home

Mother ill

Father died

Your son could be just another 'average Joe' but for your obvious love. A mothers devotion is always blind, but it is at the same time introspective. The fact that you chose to insert some of his lesser points, shows that your blindness is due to rose colored glasses which you can still see thru. I liked this poem also for its non rambling quality; little glimpses, using as few words as possible to say the most good. Its too bad you didn't make the contest count cut, it would have merited something.

It's a lovely poem but at the end it sounds unfinished. Could you add to it?

It breaks my heart when you write about Bobby. You truly love him, and it shows. This is a wonderful poem, Debileah. It feels good to be reading your work again. :o)

Your son sounded like a wonderful man. His goodness was here for a season, but felt for a lifetime. Nice write.
