Love Letters

Love Letters

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

L ove letters stashed away in a dresser drawer

O nly read now and then, so often collecting dust

V olumes of letters written such a long time ago

E nvelopes that were sealed with hugs and kisses

L ove letters covered with bittersweet tears

E ach and every one has been read time and again

T he passage of time has yellowed these pages

T aken me back to another time, another place

E verytime I read the words I love you, my heart still breaks

R emembering how our marriage fell apart, one seam at a time

S o shattered was this heart of mine
