Day Dreamer

Day Dreamer

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

Day Dreamer

Reading, writing and arithmetic

Sometimes school makes me feel sick

Sitting at my desk

Wondering if I'll pass the next test

The time goes by so slowly

When you're having fun

Me, I'd rather be out fishin in the sun

I rest my head on my hands

Then fall into a blissful sleep

Daydreaming once again

My desk begins to move

It's growing feet and claws

Oh no, they are dragon's paws

He keeps growing larger

Until I find myself

Holding onto his horns for dear life

Riding atop his giant back

We break free

Right through the school cafeteria

Leaving everyone

In a state of deliria

WHAP!

Teacher hit me with a ruler

As I fall out of my chair so abruptly

What a rude wake up call

I look at the clock on the wall

Slowly ticking away

The bell just rang

School's out!

This is very playful and cute. I'm sure that grade school kids LOVE this one (lol). Can't wait to read more!

Have you been peeking in on my past? That was little Sammy you described--always floating off somewhere, never paying attention to his teachers.
