Heroin and Wine

Heroin and Wine

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

He cheated on me with heroin and wine

She stole his soul and made him lose his mind

I rather it had been another woman that took my place

It would have been so much easier for me to face

These horrible drugs did tear us apart

Left me trembling with a broken heart

She finally killed him in the end

Destroyed my husband my best friend

Oh my. sorry for your loss. I lost a really good friend to drugs as well. You conveyed your feelings really well here. I thought the first line was so powerful. And the last lines were just a punching.

I liked how you expressed this addiction and made it a "she" and prominent in this sad poem. hug. l.gandr

funny how addiction creeps in and steals the future, clouds the past,
but can't destroy real love...lady i admire you for standing up in the face of truth,
when it would have been easier to lay down in a bed of lies..these write are destined to be others inspirations, how to face the dark to see the light..peace wizthom

Nice touch, a transition between first and third person. I recently discovered that to be a good mood-setter of insanity.

a demon mistress
you can not compete
she has her own grip
no reason or logic works
he was lost when
she touched his soul

Wow. This is intense. I like how the brevity really makes it much more impactful. I'm sorry for your loss.

I can relate. I was with a man that love the crack pipe more then his family.
