The Hippy Scene

The Hippy Scene

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

T ye-dyed shirt, bell bottom jeans, the hippy scene

H andsome fox with long flowing hair, sandals he did wear

E verything about him was so far out, he was so cool

H e was so out of sight, man

I  was hypnotized by his beautiful brown eyes

P eace baby, that's what he use to say

P scychedelic music filled the air

Y ou could smell the jasmine incense

S o intense

C ould he really see rainbows dancing round the moon

E veryday we picked the wildest of flowers

N ow and then he'd tell me stories about his days at Woodstock Festival

E venings we'd lie together in the grass just watching the stars in the sky

This is wonderful! I love acrostics, but some people reach too far and it gets cheesy. You've done the exact opposite. It's well written and with great imagery. It makes you go right into the scene, and makes me wish I was there! I always said I was meant for that genration. I am a flower child, though, the daughter of a hippie. And I am what my friends call a neo-hippy. I prefer the term the new bohemian. But this is just straight up good writing!

This was great, and bought back a conversation I had just a couple of days ago with a friend.. About 10 years ago huge bell bottoms has a short come back anyhow I put my little girl in a pair... Oh this cruel and funny.. Picture this little tot goes to run off and the bottom of her pants whips around the opposite leg thereby essentially tying them together and .... splat falling down little tot... Hehehehe those pants worked better than a leash.... Yeah they were cool for being cool in but I wouldn't recommend running LOLOLOLOLOLOL... Ah Woodstock, I think Australia must have missed out on some of that historical culture all that time ago quite badly, but at least we've caught up now.
