Down Matzinger Road

Down Matzinger Road

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

You and me and the kids

Cruising down Matzinger Road

Pass under the viadock

Park down by the side of the road

Near the railroad track

A trail through the woods

That leads to the creek

Away from the noise of the city

Hiking the trails in these woods

The kids love to fish in the pond

Climb the trees and build forts to play on

Build a campfire and tell stories at night

Catch salamanders and gardener snakes

Swinging on the vines

The smell of the pines

These are some memories of mine

Of a happy times with you

I carved your name in a sycamore tree

Always and forever you and me

And the kids
