Euthenesia

Euthenesia

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

It broke my heart

when my mom's dog

was put to sleep

as I held her in my arms

poor little "buddy"

as i watched and felt

the life go out of her eyes

her body went limp

it was so sad

I walked away in tears

She wasn't in pain anymore

but I will always carry

this memory

and it

hurts

me

painfully so

I just didn't want

to let her go

Then came Sam my old yeller dog

He came down sick with a ruptured spleen

Came the time to put him down

I wore such a sad frown

My heart was broken again

A wouldn't you know my cat

got hit by a car that just kept going

and I cried for her too
