PaulA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaHis name was Paul He was tall dark and handsome A kind stranger when we met He carried home my groceries on a warm summer day I was in the mother's way A single mom to be We became close friends He was shy and so was I He had a girlfriend she was a friend of mine I had my baby in July everything went fine He and I both got a job working at a local pub I worked the door and he was a drummer in a rock and roll band Paul use to walk me home each and every night Just a bit passed midnight We use to talk on my porchswing He broke up with her And bought me a wedding ring
