Paul

Paul

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

His name was Paul

He was tall dark and handsome

A kind stranger when we met

He carried home my groceries

on a warm summer day

I was in the mother's way

A single mom to be

We became close friends

He was shy and so was I

He had a girlfriend

she was a friend of mine

I had my baby in July

everything went fine

He and I both got a job

working at a local pub

I worked the door

and he was a drummer

in a rock and roll band

Paul use to walk me home

each and every night

Just a bit passed midnight

We use to talk on my porchswing

He broke up with her

And bought me a wedding ring

This is so sweet, real, and gorgeous! It's simple in its style, but beautiful all the same.

Ah... the beginning of a long, serious relationship. Both in need, both seeing something they wanted, both dreaming of a better future. It's how so many start. I'm very happy for both of you and hope it's still as smooth as this piece makes it sound. If not, patience and time heals all wounds.
