Dancing with writer's block

Dancing with writer's block

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

As the pendulum swings on the clock on the wall

I'm dancing the two-step with writer's block

Tick tocking Tick tocking away

Words come and words go

Back and forth in my head

I pick up a pen and a blank sheet of paper

Scribble and scratch

Crumble the paper and toss it away

Over and over

Time and again

Waltzing with words in my head

As the pendulum swings on the clock on the wall

I'm dancing the two-step with writer's block

Tick tocking Tick tocking away

As I sway...

I can relate to this poem so well. I, like you, tend to suffer from writer's block, and because I am so stubborn, I refuse to leave this computer until I overcome it. Hence, I am sometimes online at 3 AM.

I love this poem, Debileah. I envision the clock on the wall through your word and form choices. Nice! =o)

I confess I have sometimes felt this feeling but tend to walk away from it till it passes, I guess as a writer you cant walk away... lol i'm just a hobbyist poet, so I haven't felt this frustration that you describe. I like the way it's written and I hope it's taken away your writers block..lol

I really like this little poem! It really gives a very well description of what it feels like to have writer's block! ^^* (I love the way you put in the clock.)

Now this is poetry I can relate too. So many ideas in your head and yet you find yourself hesitating to write them down or when you write them down they don't seem as brilliant as they did while in your head.

Cute write Debileah.

Writer's block. Something EVERY single one of us have had. Some times inspiration is there, sometimes it's not. I find it comes in spurts. I know the experts say to write daily regardless. I know I don't. I flow when the inspiration hits.

Hope yours comes soon. :-) Have a good night/weekend! Carole

You dance quite magnificently
despite the writers block
in your swaying arms,
beautiful and aspiring
rising from this lethargic state,
well done!
