It hurts

It hurts

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

i watch as she goes through the motions

of everyday living

knowing

she's just existing

is killing me

it hurts

to see her

this way

her hair is umkempt

no make-up does she wear

anymore

no more nail polish

no pretty dress

or high-heel shoes

just an old robe

that's tattered and torn

she never cries anymore

but you can see

the sadness in her eyes

the sorrow in her heart

the pain she feels

deep inside

where she hides

don't you know

it hurts

to see her

this way

it hurts

even more

than these words

can say

it hurts to be me

today

this is me since my son passed away

and i know he wouldn't want to see me this way

This piece, almost made me cry. The ending was a complete surprise. I loved, this piece. Is it true? If so i am so sorry for you loss. XO. D.E.

I've had times like this before, and when I look back on them, I know that if the wrong things happened, I would be there again for a while. This is honest, open, and heartbreaking. May the makeup and heels come out of the closet soon.
