Letter to a drunk driverA Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
To the drunk driver who killed my son You have taken my son's life so carelessly When it could have been prevented and you must pay dearly with ten years of your life behind bars sitting in a prison cell Not a long time considering what you've taken from me You've taken my son's life he was the extention of me to carry on after I am gone You took away his present and his future and his future generations the children and grandchildren he will never have You have destroyed a beautiful man and you tore apart a family ripped out our hearts as now we are stained with his blood his life was in your hands don't you understand that? and his friend you took her life too she was a mother and she had a son and a husband and a family you carelessly took her life away now her son is without his mother a husband without his wife a mother and father without their child and another family you destroyed torn apart at the seams shattered dreams Our blood is on your hands and you are yet a young man yourself destroyed your own life and that of your family by the wrecklessness of what you have done the selfish act of wreckless driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs not relinquishing your keys to a designated driver or taking the taxi cab that was called for you there is no excuse that you can give not to serve your time in prison No excuse you have none No remorse you have none
