Beauty in the darknessA Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa(for a contest, my first attempt at dark poetry)
There is beauty in the darkness Strolling through this enchanted forest
A mystical full moon on a starlit night Captivated by it's eerie light
Bewitched I stand in awe Gazing into the reflection
Of a serene and flowing pond An awkward built wooden bridge
Crosses over the water Captured by the breath taking view
Hauntingly a castle stands In the distance upon a craggy hill
Statues of gargoyles guarding Vast stone laden walls
There are bats soaring round Mighty towers reaching up into a foggy sky
There is beauty in the darkness Of this magically enchanted evening
A gentle breeze brushes my shoulder creepily An icy chill runs down my spine
Whimsical hauntings of ghosts Speak of the castle's tragic past
Dancing in the fortress of my mind Recalling the tales of old
Where deep within the chamber walls They say a lonely soldier's ghost still cries
Over the death of his lovely young bride Her lifeless body they found floating
Downstream in the serenely flowing pond Near the awkward wooden bridge
They say she still haunts the woods Wandering aimlessly in search of her lost love
Yes there is beauty in the darkness As I tenderly place a kiss upon my lonely soldier's lips
