A jacket in my closetA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaAll that's left to hold me When I feel I need you near is A jacket in my closet the One you use to wear
The rusty color reminds of your eyes so brown A torn and empty pocket where your Marlboro's use to be As I slip it on my shoulders and place my arms into the sleeves I make believe you are still here and hugging me It's times like these I ask the Lord why did you have to leave Teardrops slowly trickle down my cheeks in disbelief That I am now a lonely widow with no one to call my own
All that's left to hold me When I feel I need you near is A jacket in my closet the One you use to wear
