daddy

daddy

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

daddy had manic depression

never took a pill in his life

he was a hard working man

who drank too much beer

but he had a heart of gold

daddy was a painter by trade

a factory worker not by choice

but by necessity

to keep his family clothed and fed

and to keep a roof over our head

daddy i miss you so

but mama must have missed you more

so it seems the lord did call you home

i miss you both so very much

so i'll say a prayer to keep in touch

Wow, this was a sad but heartfelt read. It's never easy losing those we love.
