To walk in your shoesA Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
If I could afford to travel the world, I would surely follow in your footsteps. My journey would take me far away from home. Many people I would meet along my way. For everyone has a story to tell. I hope one day to tell yours. For now, I can only speak, of what I remember of you. So there is a task in front of me, I need to complete. I can tell my side of the story of your life. From my point of view. I want more than just that. I want the world to remember you. For the thirty-three short years that you lived. So how would I set out to accomplish this? I would write across the sky if I could. But I seem to write poetry instead. I can tell of your childhood what I remember. I can tell of the things that I know about you. But how do I walk in your shoes? If only I could afford to travel the world. I'd go to the places you've been. I'd talk to your friends. I'd talk to the strangers that I'd meet. And, I'd write it all down in a book. A tribute to you, my darling son. After all hero's become legends in due time. Dedicated to Xavier.
