Soldier

A Poem by debileah

I hear the battlecry!

Of soldiers marching off to war.

It breaks my heart,

and wounds my soul.

My country tis of thee I sing!

I hear the trumpet in the distance.

Let freedom ring!

Tarry there not long

upon the battlefield.

I pray thee knight in shining armor.

Come home soon

For your countrymen wait for you.

I hear the battlecry!

Of soldiers marching off to war.

It breaks my heart,

and wounds my soul.
