RosesA Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
He bought me a dozen long stemmed roses. They came in a crystal vase. Holy moses! You should have seen the look on my face. He bought me a diamond engagement ring. it was in the early spring. For my birthday he gave me a single rose dipped in twenty-four karat gold. When he asked me to marry him, I said yes I would. I broke up with him a week later, thought he understood. I got cold feet I guess. Turned out to be another mess. For I am a widow you see. And my heart is not yet free. I still see him now and then. He is my friend. Seems though when he is with some else. I find myself getting jealous. For he would have given me a good life. Had I become his wife. What kind of fool am I? To let my ship pass by?
