I remember mom

A Story by debileah

When I was A little girl, I remember my mom,

and the stories she use to tell. Stories about living on a

farm, and one day she was riding her palamino, he got spooked

and headed toward the barn, he had no saddle, and he ran

so fast she grabbed his mane with her two hands as tightly as

she could and had to duck when they reached the barn.  Or she

probably would have been beheaded. So after that day she only rode her horse bareback like an indian. She use to talk about how

she taught herself to play the guitar, as she learned to play by ear

as she sat under a weeping willow tree by a nearby stream, where

once she nearly drown and never went near the water again.  She had a beautiful voice, sounded like Judy Garland when she sang "Somewhere over the rainbow", you would have thought that they were twins, as they had many of the same features, figures, and voices so similar.  One time when mom was elderly she was telling my son a story about how she beat up a bully on the schoolbus for bothering her little brother.  She drew back and with her fist punched the boy square in the nose, and as she told my son the story, my son ended up with a bloody nose as granndma liked to talk with her hands and she popped him just like she did the bully!
