Cancer

Cancer

A Poem by debileah
"
(written for a contest)
"

I shall not walk gently unto my death.

I will violently struggle to catch my last breath.

Cancer is no one's friend, it will definately be my end.

For I refuse to give up my cigarettes, as I scream out my regrets.

Here in my last moments this foe, eating away at my lungs and my brain.

As I lie helpless and writhing in such excruciatingly unbearable pain.

This shall surely be my demise.

Until my hearts stops beating I'll know not peace.

This one brought tears to my eyes. My late husband smoked for years and in 2005 discovered he had lung cancer. So I have walked the lines of this poem.
