Easter Reflections

Easter Reflections

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

when i think of easter i think of people
churches and family feasts and gatherings
when i think of easter i think of sunshine
colored eggs and baskets filled with chocolate
candy kisses and lollipops and jelly beans ...
when i think of easter i think about you
and the last year you were here in this life
it was the month before april fifteenth of 2007
i lost you due to a drunk driver, head on...
collision, such a bad decision he made
when i think about easter, i think about a man
who gave his life they say, for you and for me
they made a marter of him and a mockery
when i think about easter i think of death
and how hard it is to face the dawn of a new day
when i think about easter, i am not really sad
just remoniscent of days that were bad
and i reflect on the colors of a variety of soft hues
like the painted eggs, and the smiles on the faces
of the little kids, when they wake up in the morning
to baskets and bunnies and easter egg hunting
when i think of easter i think about you
when i think about easter i think about him
when i think about easter i think about life
and i try to recall the joy, not the strife...
of living and dying and crying... and i thank god
I've never stop trying....
