Walt Whitman, I so admire you!

Walt Whitman, I so admire you!

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa
"

A poem written to describe one of my favored poets, Walt Whitman. I was not well, manic from my bipolar illness, so unnaturally high, I couldn't come down. So I went into the hospital psychiatric ward

"
It was a cold heartless  place to be...
My papa had died and left me lonely

The month was April and my tears did flow
Like rain water washing away the pain

Of losing him, I loved him so...
Then there in the area room I saw it.

A bookshelf held a small library of books
The first one that caught my eye,

I almost passed it by, but I decided to take a look
It was called something like "Green Leaves".

Written by a man named Walt Whitman.
I had heard that name before..

In some distant memory, I knew him to be a poet.
One of the finest, he left us a legacy

I fell in love with Walt Whitman and his book
"Green Leaves"  He so enlightened me.

Oh my soul, how he inspired me to write,
All that day and through the night

Dearest of poets, Walt Whitman
This poem, is my tribute to you.
