A Bad Man Can Take A Good Woman Down

A Bad Man Can Take A Good Woman Down

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

So many tears she cried
So many times he lied
Could have filled the oceans
Overflowed the rivers and the seas
So many times
He brought her to her knees
She would beg him to change his ways
Stop playing those wicked games
Drinking and drugging and dancing
With the devil
Evil lurks in the darkness, and hides in the day
So many times, she begged him not to go
Pleaded with him to stay out of trouble
But he went out there anyway
Always he chose the hard life
Hard core drugs and running with thugs
He lived a double life
With his dear children and his beloved wife
He went astray, that was his way
She would have rather he'd met another woman
She could have left him so much sooner
Than she did, instead she stayed, and she prayed
To an invisible God, only her heart could see
They say that misery loves company
And three is a crowd
So one day she picked up a bottle of alcohol
And baby that was all it took
She could have wrote a book
On the ups and downs
The highs and lows
A roller coaster ride, only anger knows
Regrets, she lived to know them well
Life became a living hell
Beaten, battered and abused
Somehow, she survived
Then things happened beyond one's control
He died and left behind a legacy of despair
She lost her mind for a spell
As she fell once more upon her knees
She asked her maker, to take her too
She just couldn't cope
Feeling so damn blue
A bad man, can take a good woman down
