Dear Dad..

Dear Dad..

A Poem by Deborah Brooks-Langford
"

A Special Letter to my dad.

"

It was mid day when you took me by the hand so many years ago

it was you who would explain, that life was really good

worth living and so much fun...

You had an Impala 62 Chevrolet,

as we all piled in and to the movies we would go..

You been to war and come home with so many haunts,

you loved  our momand would tell us all,

we were your children and you loved us so...

Those were the days....the days of gold..

to us eight kids, you were bold and our hero..

Dear Dad, I am mailing this letter to heaven

because I know that's where you are..

Sunday is Fathers day, and I miss you so..

No more parties to give... no more barbecues

no more frying fish, and making us laugh to boot..

You loved your Lord, you loved us all

that was never the question, but I have to tell you so much more..

It's just not the same dad, since you have gone...

my life feels so empty..

Dear dad.. I miss you so....

And my son Jason is turning into my hero....

and how  delighted I am

and proud to have another you .

So Dad you see, I believe every word you said, life is really good

and worth living and I know you send your love, to each one

of us,  as our hearts are never empty, misplaced or forgotten,

and because Dad you left us a legacy, not of money I suppose,

but of adoring love and a better way to go  ...

Love your Daughter

Thank you for that wonderful comment
This is outstanding and spoke to me on a familiar, personal level. I know your father, like mine, looks down and smiles.
