the edge

the edge

A Poem by Ashley
"

i don't know? it really doesn't make sense unless you're in my head.

"

it's days like these,

when the windows are spotted and running with rain,

and the day is so dark that it seems like light will never grace the skyline again,

that i stop to think about my life and where it stands.

where does it stand?

it stands on the edge of a rocky cliff with no sign of hope below.

before it lies a morbid scene of bitter thoughts and discarded memories,

engulfed in heartbreak and despair.

behind it lies a helping hand and a warm smile,

floating by on a singsong voice of sweet love sick melodies.

it's days like these,

when the trees seem to weep through the agony of it all,

and even the clouds can't hold back their sorrow filled tears,

that i get lost in my own thoughts again.

faced with a choice and the two scenes before me,

armed with nothing but broken words and a vague sense of moral,

my life takes a step, in a direction, towards something.

what i believe to be right, what i think i need.

i'll see the light on the skyline in time.
