bitter?

bitter?

A Poem by Ashley

we were sitting in my room,

two stupid kids in love,

only seeing each other.

believing that nothing could extinguish

the flames that we'd created.

i looked to you,

and your eyes shone with the love

that i thought would always keep me safe.

i reached out my hand,

and proclaimed, "dance with me"

your grin quickly spread across your face,

you took my hand,

and we danced.

right there in my room,

with no one around,

and no music to guide us,

just the sound of our breathing,
our steady heartbeats in tune with one another.

with my head on your shoulder,

and your hand across my back,

you leaned closer

and whispered

"i will always love you"

and i believed you.
