Anya (5)

A Chapter by Jay S

was now hold up in a small hotel at the edge of town called, Mis Casa. I was in room 12 floor 7. I was in under the name of the Blonde Bozo that was with me up at the cottage, Blake Sullivan. The hotel wasn’t horrible, in fact,  it was nice. It had a T.V. and a laptop, free WiFi.  I pulled the laptop on my lap and searched “ Killers missing” and Instantly a picture of Flynn, me, and an article came up. I clicked on the article, and scrolled through it. It mostly covered things I had already known, and twisted back stories of our lives and lies about our motives. There were a few pictures of the bodies, and then when I reached the end of the falsified article it read, "Killers Flynn and Anya are suspected to be dead after 8 week manhunt."

I was glad to hear that they might be off our trail for a while, but I was worried about Flynn, his fragile mind and soul couldn't handle living incognito. He wasn’t a killer either, I had killed all but one of the players that had been killed, he only barely could stand the heavy burden of the one he did kill. Yet, there is nothing I could have done, not in the situation we were in, so I just closed the laptop, and went to go get some food in the

cafeteria. The cafeteria food was surprisingly good compared to the food at that old rusty cottage. When I scraped the last essence of food off my plate I went up the 12 flights of stairs, fell into my amazingly soft mattress and dozed off.

That night I had the most lucid dream of my life.

I dreamt that I was in the middle of a big field. I was barefoot and could feel the grass on my feet. It was the most beautiful field I had ever seen, the grass was such a beautiful bright green, and it was so so so soft. The sun, was so bright, it was around dusk so there was this amazingly beautiful sunset. I just sat there and basked in the beauty of that vast amazing world I was in.

I blinked for just a second, and I felt the grass die under my feet, and weeds grew around me, stabbing into my vulnerable feet. I felt my hands fill with warmth only to look down and find them covered in fresh blood. My vision blurred and when I could see again, I saw everyone I knew, standing as corpses in front of me. They all looked up in unison, with black eyes, and screamed.

I awoke with a screech, and deadly ill feeling to the emergency news playing on the small television provided in the hotel room. It blared the most comforting news I could hear right now,  “After 9 weeks of searching for the murderers, Anya kyoki and Flynn Asher, who have killed at least two known victims we have assumed they are dead and are now stopping their manhunt. If you see or hear anything that may provide any evidence that they still live please alert your nearest police task force. And that is Yuna town news.”

I almost screeched with joy at this wonderful news. It rid me of that gut wrenching feeling I had with my dream. It actually filled me with quite a bit of joy. I would finally be able to leave this hotel without having to avoid police task forces on every corner, and the town border would finally be cleared.

I immediately got up and put on the clothes that Blake had provided before taking off. I looked down at the circular scar left on my leg, that scar reminded me of the feeling that took over me that day. That feeling was the most frightening thing in the world, it brought pain, so much pain. When I blacked out, the feeling of rage that overflows in me, and the blood-lust that I feel was almost too  painfully present.

Weeks passed uneventful in the hotel, a dreary feeling always loomed over me. The feeling of missing something, something I never wanted to do, none the less miss. I just went through daily activities just for the sake of routine. I got up, ate, came back to the room, sat down, listened to the distant buzz of the cable tv, slept, repeat.
