Asleep Forever

Asleep Forever

A Story by Paige

She lay in the snow until she couldn't feel her toes. She sunk into the cold whiteness, and she thought about everything she had dealt with in her life. The snow was falling, the flakes catching in her eyelashes, and melting making her eyelids cold.

'Why shouldn't I just lay here forever?' she thought. Perfectly content she rest in the cool air of the winter night, looking at the bright stars. "They're so much prettier in the country," she told herself, "maybe things would have been different if I'd lived here." She fell asleep, the snow chilling her body and soaking her clothes. The found her four days later, blue and asleep forever.

Nice story, Paige. I like the concept of someone sleeping in the snow. Every word was chosen very carefully. Short yet deep.
