Dear MirrorA Poem by Deana poem that looks within and sees the trials of life but shines like a star in the end.
Dear mirror
My number one fan and critic It’s been a while now since my last introspection Or gave regard to your reprove on my reflection I hear the words you speak But I just don’t listen I see the flaws you point at But pay no attention The lines that crease my torture glazed face The scars that tattoo my thorn pierced heart The callus upon my lacerated palms The eyes are windows to the soul I hear So I try to hide behind dark eye-liners and make-up Just so for once you’ll say I’m perfect And paint me an image of sweet prince charming But my soul you see through the window pane You see the real me through all the façade The fear beneath false layers of bravado The grief and tears beneath every smile You hear the sobs beneath every laughter And yet you whisper softly “you’ll be fine” Coz behind the clouds, you still see a star © 2016 Dean |
