A Friend's Love

A Friend's Love

A Poem by Anthony Q Armstrong

The way you made me smile,
Even through a text.
I felt as if I could run a mile,
And always run the next.

How sweet you are to me,
How could this ever be.
I loved you once
Not so long ago.
I miss you so much now,
I pray you never go.

You have left,
Yet kept your promise.
It was me who committed the theft,
The theft of life and love,
Peace and Serenity.
One day it will be okay.
But not today.

Someday soon this poem will be reborn,
From the ashes it soon lay.
It lay still and cold,
Withering in pain.

Like a Phoenix,
Born from the fire.
A new poem will rise,
This time free of desire.

Good poets don't forgett, as long as you have an idea; tada! XD (m such a child today...)
Oh my gosh! I love this poem, oh soo very much Anthony. It makes me think about my ex-boyfriend. His face popped up the whole time I was reading each touching line. See, he was my world but we both decided at the same time that we would be better off as friends. The reason I did it is because I found out from rumors that became the truth that he was in love with my best friend (ex-best friend now). He's actually now one of my best friends. I'm glad that he's still in my life but at times I wish he's more. I write poems about loving him being in my life and wanting him back. It's hard to do that when he doesn't seem interested. He always makes me smile, especially when he makes me feel dumb when I don't understand his joke or something. Great job on a poem that touched me so much! :'D
