Simply Put

 

If you must capture the moment

please leave off the flash

when taking this picture of my heart

so when it expresses the hope

the glare doesn’t hide the pain.

display it in a plain frame

so you don’t sugar coat

the details of the lines on my face.

When you insist on drawing a portrait

all I ask is it be done in charcoal, not colors

for I don’t want to be defined or stereotyped,

simply seen as a human with a face.

Leave off the flash so that the broken heart shows and don't paint me in color for I want to be seen as I really am with all the lines and imperfections that make me, me. This is a creative expression of allowing yourself to viewed for who you are and not what others would like you to be. The flaws in our beings is what makes us unique and special. I have always said that.
