Blackout

Blackout

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A one way ticket to paradise

is actually the road to hell

when filled with endless white lines;

no matter which side you drive on

it will always be the wrong way.

You can hide the blood in the cracks

of your chapped lips,

it won’t stop the red from

contaminating your clothes.

Try burying them in a shallow grave

will only feed the worms and weeds

but still not kill the pain.

Even if roses would grow

with the assist of a miracle

you can’t take the time to enjoy them

with bloodshot eyes and blood clot nostrils.

Cough it up

then spit it out

doesn’t change the fact

that it once existed in your heart.

Wow, this was painful and heavy.... that last line slams it well.. You did a great job with the description of it all.. I saw, felt and smelled it.. it has a life of it's own..xo

Sometimes what we envision to be Paradise may not be the case...the reality of it can be the road to hell. I get a sense of bitterness in this intriguing write. Nice work!
