Blackout

Blackout

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A one way ticket to paradise

is actually the road to hell

when filled with endless white lines;

no matter which side you drive on

it will always be the wrong way.

You can hide the blood in the cracks

of your chapped lips,

it won’t stop the red from

contaminating your clothes.

Try burying them in a shallow grave

will only feed the worms and weeds

but still not kill the pain.

Even if roses would grow

with the assist of a miracle

you can’t take the time to enjoy them

with bloodshot eyes and blood clot nostrils.

Cough it up

then spit it out

doesn’t change the fact

that it once existed in your heart.

wonderful metaphor the road to hell indeed! Drugs caught in the delicious analogy of life and destination it leads to ...nicely done.

Deep, heartfelt, and dark, another one from you, but very brilliant. Pain is temporary as life is too. All is transience, as we go, maybe some will not... or live forever. It's a honest write, but with a lot of clues, within. I like. The message in this one is painful, as we need to balance dissapointments, into bliss~ Brilliant write.

The words reveal a heart overwhelmed by dreams undone... pain and sorrow that have choked the world from a heart and soul. Stunning expressions that pound into the mind and give fair warning.

I have friends that have seen those endless white lines for years. They've become withdrawn and anti-social. That ticket to paradise is a costly one. Great poem Dale as always.

This reminds me of someone on a cocaine ride that spirals out of control and leads to destructive way of life. You can change but the images of the past will always be there.

Damn, man, this is powerful writing. You don't hold back, you don't keep back the haymakers. One, two, three, four...you knock out the spiritual core.

One of your best.

this is exactly what it's like. it takes great courage and creativity to write about a sensitive and controversial subject.

Great write! Definitely a thought provoking one. I especially like the last lines "Cough it up
then spit it out
doesn’t change the fact
that it once existed in your heart."

Great work with this.
