In The Still Of The Night The Wolf Will Shine

In The Still Of The Night The Wolf Will Shine

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

The silent breeze

Of the witching hour

Conjures up virgin thoughts

In a tainted mind.

From the sweetness

Of snowflakes blanketing

Childhood dreams

Turns into the nightmare

That leaves footprints

On adolescent dreams.

Decisions made in the dark

Become vampires in the daylight.

Ashes to ashes

Distorts the vision with haloes

When facing an inner demon.

The past is now a skeleton

Wearing sheep’s skin

While the future remains

Clutched in the jaws

Of the wolf;

Leaving no mercy

Except when he howls

At the moon.

Very interesting piece..this is the kind of write you get something different every time you read it..other worldly...yet one can see the past to present and all the decisions that affect a persons life....

worthy & a pleasure ( :
I loved the vision you put into this poem, the movement, the raw energy that stirs the soul as the reader contemplates thoughts

My interpretation: One mistake made can last a lifetime and stick with us for many years. Its residue is always just a synapse away even though we try to be of a positive mind. But the night's influence has a power over us, it can cause excitement, mischief, doubt, fear, and a stress that pops its head out of what we thought was blanket of relief. The past is always behind like an agitator, an inflamer, a provacature of our peace.

Favorite phrase: The past is now a skeleton
Wearing sheep’s skin
While the future remains
Clutched in the jaws
Of the wolf;

Always an interesting read from you and your pen Dale.

As once in a while when it's blood moon, the haunting is much stronger... lovely read, and beautiful write. With a clear message, to leave the past into the future... however things which are genetic, hardly can be cancelled... Large imagery and nice metaphors, I like it the way you brought me into another place, as romance tonight haha! :D

It is not easy the transiction... it is so good to be an innocet child that is aware of so many things of this world.
Every poem that I read I always chose inside me the most beautiful poetic sentence... here it is the one from your poem: "From the sweetness
Of snowflakes blanketing" Made me picture it...and even taste it...

I loveee the references to the night, the dreams, and the wolf. This kind of has an eerie feel, yet also it is an anguished feel, as when the world howls at the moon, saving all his anguish just for the moon. The dreams are sweet yet haunted, blanketed with the snow of sugary truths. Excellent choice of words in that line: "From the sweetness
Of snowflakes blanketing
Childhood dreams
Turns into the nightmare
That leaves footprints
On adolescent dreams."
I especially liked "Decisions made in the dark
Become vampires in the daylight."
That is so true. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel my worst at night. It's almost like an insomniac; The thoughts keep running and everything seems clear. I view this poem as the element of getting older, maturing, saving the tears for solitude.
This is going into my favorites!
