Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Beyond the golden archway

The passages are stonewalls

Lined with moss;

The only sign of life.

Each steps sinks

Into the soft dirt,

Drying instantly to leave

A lasting impression

Of my existence.

Turning back creates double vision;

Neither of them familiar.

No light can be seen

At the end of the tunnel

Still I am blinded by the fact

It is what gives me my vision

To find my way.

The cobwebs get thicker

The deeper I go

Yet weaker in resistance.

The end comes swiftly

Though a long time in the making.

So I dig my own hole

So the ceiling can cave in.

This is beautiful. That digging down we must do, but so often don't, for fear of what we might find there. Few people have the courage in enter those abandoned mines.

"Turning back creates double vision; neither of them familiar"

Ahhh...I know this sensation too well...its a tough place to be...can't go back but going forward and into the unknown is incomprehensible too...yikes!

Good to see you "going there"...its where the beauty resides....:)

Well described this tunnel vision, I do not know if it has to do with the eye disease "cataract" or just the complexity of humanity and the way they can think narrow... Anyhow, a clever amazing piece!!
